Edson To Demonstrate Its Robotic Infeed De-Strapping System

HAMILTON, Ontario, September 10, 2026 – Edson, a ProMach brand, is showcasing its Robotic Infeed De-Strapping System, a robotic cell that automates the infeed area of a case packer, in booth S-3858 at Pack Expo International 2026, October 18-21, at McCormick Place in Chicago.

After KDF (Knocked Down Flat) stacks are loaded onto the infeed conveyors, the Robotic Infeed De-Strapping System automatically prepares them for forming by cutting bands and removing dunnage, cardboard, and other paper-based materials used during transportation. The system then straightens, aligns and conveys the stacks to the case packer for processing.
The Robotic Infeed De-Strapping System was developed to extend automation further into the packaging process and to increases the safety of the overall stack preparation. Moreover, it frees up an operator to other areas of production where their skills can be put to better use, especially amid industry-wide staffing shortages.
In addition to reducing manual intervention, the system improves accuracy, efficiency, and consistency. Tasks such as identifying and removing all strapping materials, extracting the correct amount of dunnage, and properly orienting product stacks can be labor-intensive and prone to operator tardiness, inefficiencies and decreased production speed.
While the Robotic Infeed De-Strapping System integrates seamlessly with Edson's portfolio of case packers and packaging equipment, its applications extend beyond paper products, i.e. beverage pallets. Each solution can be customized to meet the specific requirements of the customer, packaging line, and industry.
