Sustainability & Responsible Packaging
Sustainability as defined by United Nations as:
“Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Simply put it is the intersection of social, environmental and
economic responsibility.
For us and our customers, it is a business approach and goal that creates long-term value by embracing opportunities and managing risks deriving from economic, environmental and social developments.
Sustainability must be more than a COOL buzz word, discussion in the boardrooms & meeting rooms. The largest and most significant success arises from LONG-Term goals such as designing an entirely new packaging line or retrofitting an existing line.
Any capital project is about achieving a specified objective in a way that produces maximum return on investments.
Retrofitting lines can be just as effective in meeting sustainability initiatives as a new packaging line, starting from a blank sheet.
Achieving outcomes in responsible ways, is on the minds of most executives that we
work with on improving their manufacturing operations now days. By providing our customers with efficient automation, we support their business practices to minimize waste, consume less energy, boost recycling, and lessen dependence on non-renewable resources. We at Edson explore new and innovative ways to develop and acquire NEW technologies and to leverage strategic partnerships to help us create more efficient & reliable packaging systems.
The greatest wastes of resources in manufacturing plant is downtime. The single greatest cause of downtime is machine changeover from one product or package size to other.
Our design team has bean working for years to design a packaging machine that have less than ½ hr for changeover time and have large package range, allowing our customer to package goods at the “right size”. Combined with efficient case packer that will perform using corrugate made from higher % of recycled fiber and thinner packaging, we are always improving our automation such as using smaller motors or servos hence machines that use significantly less energy or adhesive materials. Not to forget the excellent support we offer both in providing proper training of the operators, mechanics and technical services by our PMMI certified trainers and technical field teams.
All of the above means more productive time which equates to greater efficiency and profitability, as well as sustainability.
