Position:  Designer - Intermediate Mechanical

Summary:  The detail-oriented candidate will analyze , conceptualize and develop servo & pneumatic based packaging machines and assemblies, based on Edson's extensive knowledge base and where necessary, innovate new automation solutions. Highly detail oriented self-starter. Strong team player and individual contributor. Ability to design for manufacturability in a custom machinery project environment, work to specs and deadlines.

Functions:

• Interpret technical specifications & application parameters;
• Analysis & solution to various mechanical problems
• Conceptualize designs, problem-solve, participate in product development team;
• Select cost effective OEM components;
• Create full design packages including BOM, detail drawing, assembly drawings according to design & contract requirements, to ensure completeness & accuracy;
• Interact with Purchasing & Production, in office and on production floor as needed;
• Proven ability to skilfully manage time and commitments

• Superior analytical and communications skills (written & verbal)
• Minimum of 5 years of mechanical design in machinery or automation.
• Experience in automation & servo controls is an asset
• High proficiency Computers skills in AutoCAD and adept in a BOM/PDM/ERP system environment
• Skilled with Microsoft Office applications
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacture & LEAN principles is preferred
